X-Press Feeders, headquartered in Singapore, has increased its fleet size by 2.1% since June 2022. In contrast, the global liner fleet experienced a growth of 5.7% during the same period. On the other hand, Unifeeder, based in Aarhus, has significantly reduced its fleet capacity by over 25,000 teu, resulting in a substantial decline of -17.9%.
This reduction in capacity by Unifeeder was prompted by a decline in cargo demand in the Far East to North Europe trade, affecting feeder volumes. Consequently, the company has streamlined its services connecting North Europe with the Baltic region. This optimization has freed up more than 7,000 teu of capacity, which has been effectively utilized by other carriers operating in the European shortsea segment.
