The coffee industry in Vietnam has emerged as a prominent contributor to the country's agricultural exports in the first half of 2023, generating an impressive revenue of $2 billion, as confirmed by the General Department of Customs.
According to statistical data released by the department, Vietnam had exported 934,900 tonnes of coffee as of June 15, marking a slight decrease of 3.7% compared to the same period in 2022. However, the export prices experienced a notable increase of nearly $2 per tonne.
Notably, the coffee sector has consistently been part of the prestigious "one-billion-USD" club since 2010 and achieved its peak performance of $4.056 billion in 2022. This exclusive club recognizes exports that annually yield at least $1 billion.
Vietnamese coffee has successfully established a presence in 38 markets worldwide, with export turnovers exceeding $10 million in 25 markets and surpassing $100 million in six traditional markets.
If the export turnover maintains a monthly average of approximately $360 million until the end of this year, the coffee sector is poised to set a new record of $4.5 billion in 2023, representing a notable growth of 10.9% compared to the previous year.
