Chinese ports have shown robust growth in container throughput for the period between January and August 2023. The total throughput reached 203.7 million TEUs, marking a 4.8% increase compared to the same period last year. Cargo volumes also surged, rising by 8.4% year-on-year to reach 11.1 billion tons during this period.
Shanghai Port maintains its position as the busiest container port in China, handling a staggering 32 million TEUs. Ningbo & Zhoushan comes in second place with 24 million TEUs, while Shenzhen secures the third position with a throughput of 19 million TEUs.
