APL is to withdraw from offering a direct service on the West Mediterranean/USEC trade following the ending of the slot agreement with

 

Maersk and CMA CGM on the WestMed service in mid-October

 

 

 

The only direct service APL will then provide to cover the Mediterranean/USEC trade, will be through slots on the Indamex service operated

 

by CMA CGM, NYK, Hapag-Lloyd and OOCL, which only calls Damietta in the eastern Med on the westbound leg APL’s last westbound sailing

 

on the WestMed service, which was marketed as the Mediterranean Gulf Service (MGS), is expected to be from Genoa on October 11th

 

Hapag-Lloyd is also ending its slot agreement on the WestMed service around the same time as APL, but will continue serving almost an

 

identical port range through slots on the MINA service operated by UASC and Hanjin WestMed/Mediterranean Gulf Service port coverage :

 

 Malta, Gioia Tauro, Livorno, Genoa, Fos, Algeciras, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Algeciras, Malta
