Shenzhen container throughput up more than 30pc in H1
THE
Port of Shenzhen recorded a 32.12 per cent rise in container throughput in the
first half of the year, compared to last year, to 6.05 million TEU.
According
to a report by Xinhua, the total amount of cargo handled by the port was 63.32
million tons, up 24.32 per cent compared with the same period last year, with
foreign trade accounting for 41.30 million tons, up 39.55 per cent.
The
report said that since March the monthly container throughput by Shenzhen Port
exceeded 1 million TEU in the subsequent four months, setting a new record in
June, when the port handled 1.139 million TEU. Xinhua also said that both the
east and west port regions of Shenzhen Port have improved their facilities
including berths, container yards and customs clearance operation, boosting
their business.
Throughput
for Yantian, Chiwan and Shekou reached 2.77 million TEU, 1.17 million TEU, and
1.01 million TEU respectively, representing an increase of 19.73 per cent, 63.7
per cent and 58.26 per cent over the same period last year
