Port Construction Fee in Shenzhen Ports

As per announcement from Shenzhen Communication Bureau, a port construction fee will be collected for all shipments moving in and out of Shenzhen ports effective from 1st, Oct 2004 at the following rates:

· RMB 80 / TEU

· RMB 120 / TEU

According to the guidelines received from Communication authorities that the fee should be paid by shippers (or agents) or consignees (or agents) and the fee collected, on behalf of Communication authorities, by the terminal operators.

The method of collection is still being discussed and it remains to be decided whether the fee will be collected the by terminal operators directly or whether shipping lines will be appointed by the terminal operators to do so.
