Hapag-Lloyd hikes Asia Europe, intra-Asia rates

German container line Hapag-Lloyd said last week it is raising rates from the Far East to Europe by $150 per TEU beginning Feb. 1.

The increase impacts cargo moving to all northern European and Mediterranean ports from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Macao, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, and the Russian Pacific ports of Vladivostok and Vostochny.

The line also said last week it is raising rates on intra-Asia shipments by $50 per TEU, effective Jan. 15.

MSC raises Asia Europe bunker surcharge

Shipping line Mediterranean Shipping Co. is introducing a $505-per-TEU bunker surcharge on shipments from Asia to Europe beginning Feb. 1.

The surcharge applies on all shipments headed to Red Sea, Mediterranean, Black Sea, northern Africa, northern Europe, United Kingdom, Scandinavian and Baltic ports.
